Roots, soul, and thousands of hours on stage
Daniel “Dan” Harry is a soulful singer-songwriter and guitarist from Fayetteville, Tennessee, whose sound draws on the blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy and the guitar-driven songcraft of Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and James Taylor.
Dan picked up the guitar at 14 and never put it down. At 19 he released Forgotten Dreams (2010), a fully self-made solo record: he wrote it, sang it, and played every instrument on it. At Middle Tennessee State University he went on to study music business and audio engineering, then spent years working with MT Production Services and Spectrum Audio on shows supporting well-known acts including Brad Paisley and Jason Aldean.
As lead vocalist and guitarist of the Murfreesboro-based band Copper Into Steel, a group that blended twangy bluegrass with acoustic rock, Dan toured nationally from New Orleans to New York. He sang lead and played guitar on the band's debut album Alchemy (2013), released when he was 21. Dozens of the band's live sets from 2011 to 2014 are preserved in the Internet Archive's Live Music Archive.
Today Dan performs solo throughout North Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee, playing patios, restaurants, wineries, concerts, festivals, and private events. He's also a ceremony musician, cocktail-hour performer, and wedding DJ/MC. He fronts the Jerry Harry Band as lead singer and guitarist and plays guitar and sings in Midnight Jane. A dedicated teacher, he has given more than 1,000 lessons in guitar, bass, and vocals.
